Call-in Review Consultation
With the Government continuing to tinker with the planning system with emphasis on the ‘local level’, it has recently launched yet another consultation paper, this time with the aim of reducing the number of planning decisions referred to Government Offices.
The consultation paper is proposing a single call-in direction to replace the existing set up. Basically, the Government is proposing that the majority of applications are determined at the local level by local authorities.
For developers, this potentially means that those applications for schemes of over 150 dwellings will not automatically be referred to the appropriate Government Office whilst the plans would also remove the need for applications relating to council-owned land to be referred.
The consultation period is due to close on 31 March and the paper can be viewed below
