London Southend Airport turns to Remarkable

Remarkable Property and Planning Communications is poised to play its part in the regeneration of the Thames Gateway area. The agency has been appointed to handle the public consultation for the multi-million pound infrastructure of London Southend Airport.

The project involves an integrated public consultation and media relations campaign to support the planning application process for a number of new facilities. These will include a new hotel, on-site railway station and improvements to the terminal building.

As a public consultation expert, Remarkable has put together an experienced team to deliver a programme of communications activities which include regular community newsletters and outreach to local and regional press to ensure residents are kept informed of future developments.

London Southend Airport was recognised for its growth over the past year, scooping the 2007 Growing Business of the Year Award at the Southend District Business Awards. The airport already plays an important role in the local economy, employing 1,300 people and supporting over 50 local businesses.

“The Remarkable Group’s support is invaluable to the two-phase development of the airport’s new facilities,” said Alastair Welch, managing director of London Southend Airport. “Remarkable fully understands what is required and has an excellent team and proven methodology to support this public consultation process, which is sure to attract new carriers and services to the airport.”

Seen as one of the UK’s leading specialists in public consultation, the contract is a significant win for Remarkable. Director of Remarkable’s property and planning team, Daniel Hayman, said: “We are delighted to be working with an airport which really has the potential to become one of Britain’s finest regional airports and supporting its commitment to community engagement.”
